The Track Of The Day is a hip hop classic. "If I Ruled The World" served as Nas' break out single in 1996; earning Nas a Grammy nomination in 1997. This one includes a sample from 1983 Whodini single "Friends", and interpolates the song "If I Ruled The World" by Kurtis Blow into its chorus and Lauryn Hill's verse also incorporates the song "Walk Right Up To The Sun" by The Delfonics (the youngsters may have to google these legends). This is by far one of my favorite songs of all time. This song had me wishing that Nas did rule the world. Let's all travel back to a time when hip hop had soul and the lyrics had meaning. Enjoy!
Damn! A hip hop classic!!!! Where in the world is Lauryn Hill? For that matter where's Nas?? What happened to Hype Williams??? His videos were the dopest!
