Unsigned Artist Spotlight: Sonny Black

Rappers tend to fall into categories or “lanes”.  They explore their talent in their “lane”, but never venture out much from fear of getting run over, or judged by their peers and friends.  Such is not the case with Sonny Black, however.  The man behind such songs as “ Still Water” and “Party Girl” appears to be motivated only by his tune that lies in his soul.  He creates club ready dance songs that bring the crowd to the dance floor, and introspective tracks which give you a peek at some of his life experiences.  Though the themes vary, the songs are never without purpose, instead each have an aim and set out to complete its mission in the time allotted.

His latest song, “Still Waters” features a sample from The Four Tops 1970’s single, “Still Waters (Love)”.  Like the idiom, “Still Waters Run Deep”, the song talks about not judging a book by its cover.  “This record will give my audience the opportunity to begin to understand what makes me tick, as an artist.  I hope you join me in this journey,” said Sonny.
