As we wait for President Obama’s stimulus plan to fully take effect, Philly rapper, Freeway released his own Hip Hop stimulus package alongside Seattle/G-Unit producer, Jake One.

Located in the Chelsea section of Downtown Manhattan, New York, Freeway and Jake One brought down the roof of the Highline Ballroom. The event was hosted by Hot 97’s Celebrity Gossiper, Miss Info. There was a mixed crowd of Hip-Hoppers supporting Freeway and Jake One’s Stimulus Package album release, whom of which, ranged from those sporting hoodies and timberland boots to a young white couple rocking next to me, reciting each lyric.

Just as the crowd began to show signs of restlessness, we were mollified by cuts from Minneapolis’ own, DJ Snuggles. This young mixer laid down cuts so mean; we almost forget what we were at Highline Ballroom for and started bumping and groovin’ to classic and modern day tracks, such as, Eric B & Rakim’s “Microphone Fiend” and Fat Joe’s “The CrackHouse”. DJ Snuggles,who is also the self-proclaimed “Lil’ Wayne of Beatboxing”, managed to grace us with some sick beatboxing skills (Click here for the video)

Brooklyn Native, Joell Ortiz, opened as the first act. Ortiz performed his songs, “Hip-Hop”, “Brooklyn Bullsh*t” and the single off his new album, Free Agent, “Call Me”. Ortiz also performed several of his verses from the Slaughterhouse album. (Click here for the video)

Next up, was Brother Ali of Minneapolis. Brother Ali broadcasted his concerns within today’s society; touching on subjects, such as, teenage misguidance, female imagery and Obama’s promise to bring the troops back home. All in all, Brother Ali’s rhymes were straight Hip Hop and for the encouragement of the people.

As Jake One setup his wheels of steel, the crowd prepared for the main event. Freeway stormed the stage performing the first track off the Stimulus package, “Throw Your Hands Up”. Even though the audience members were moving to the music, there could’ve been more energy on Freeway’s part. Patrons continued to watch as Philly Freezer slowly paced back and forth on the stage. There were a few moments where Jake One would drop the beat and Freeway would perform acapella. I especially liked this portion of the show because it allows the audience to appreciate the lyrist that is Freeway and the listeners avoid getting trapped up in the beat. After a mixture of songs from previous albums and the latest, Freeway brought out a few special guest to liven up the crowd.; Young Chris of the Young Gunnaz (Click here for vid.), Tek of Smif-n-Wessun, and Jack Frost. Overall, the night was a success. Close to 150 people came out to the Highline Ballroom to support the album release of Freeway and Jake One’s Stimulus Package. At the end of the event, fans lined up to get their CDs signed by Freeway.

During the 90s, we were introduced to the Neo-Soulful sounds of D' Angelo. He defined the word cool with songs, such as; "Cruisin" and infamous "baby maker" "Untitled(How does it feel?)". Some may even go so far to say D'Angelo was the modern day Al Green. However you see him, D' Angelo was simply the man who needs to make a come back ASAP.

I don't know much about this artist but I like what I hear. I've always had an ear for that smooth soul sound and this song has it. I love music that could be blasted at high levels but also could be played low creating a soothing ambiance. This track is entitled "Baby Can't Leave It Alone" by Neo-soul artist, Olu. Hello world, I hope all is well and everyone is starting 2010 on a positive and healthy note. It is a new year with new opportunities. "Back In the Day" is simply a feel good track. Laced over Teddy P's "Love TKO". this track brings us all back; both young and old. However, we must always remember where we came from. Remember the road you took to achieve your hard-earned success. With that being said, I'll leave you with a classic. Enjoy y'all.

Established in 2004, The Elegant Hoodness Musical Program (EHMP) has proven to be successful in exposing new artist to the media. Based in New York City, EHMP helps underground, unsigned, and independent artists get “shine” within the music industry. This mission is completed through the heavy use of media outlets, such as; radio shows, music websites, magazines and many others. Hosted by founder and C.E.O, A.D. The General, EHMP hosts several showcases which consist of appearances by the media, celebrity guests, and keynote speakers. With a combination of live performances and featured guests, this event is a perfect opportunity for artists, record labels, and the like to network and establish strong relationships.

Recently, I have been given the opportunity to attend the Elegant Hoodness Musical Program Top 10 Artist Awards ceremony, which recognizes artists for their perseverance and dedication. A majority of the EHMP’s events take place at the Bowery Poetry Club located in the Noho section of New York; which has a very underground but yet artsy feel. Entering the crowded establishment, there was an anxious but yet positive vibe amongst the mixed crowd of artists, supporters, featured guests and others. Waiting for the show to start, the audience listened to some cuts by DJ Ace of Spades, who was pretty good with the minor exception of a few hiccups. The ceremony started off with a few motivational words by Hot 97’s Lil Nat to those on the “come-up”. The event really began to take off with the live performances. The first to grace the stage was nominee, Logan, who rocked the joint with his song, “Love Connection”. The night then went into several performances by the nominees but two performers who stood out were D-Dave and the Axe Gang, who both had an exceptional strong stage presence and high energy performance. D-Dave’s performance of “Neva Scared” had the crowd on their feet; while the Kentucky/Ohio based group, Axe Gang, received a warm embrace by New Yorkers as they shared an alternative sound with the crowd.

The overall environment of the 3^rd annual “Elegant Hoodness Musical Program Top 10 Artist Awards” was first-rate. Everyone was a positive supporter of the next. An equal amount of love and encouragement was spread amongst the Bowery Poetry Club, as everyone sipped their drinks and bopped to the music of the next big artist. The Elegant Hoodness Musical Program is a breath of fresh air for any artist looking for resources on their journey to success within the music industry. With showcase rewards, such as, interviews and radio appearances, which will help jumpstart your career, how could you pass up such an opportunity? There has been recent talk about Freemasonry within the music industry; involving artists, such as, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Jay-Z; the supposed head honcho of the freemasonry music world. Jay-Z released the first video of the new year, "On To the Next One" (Produced by swizz beats), how does one explain this video? I know I can't. Is Jay-Z making an attempt to milk the ideologies of the people to gain exposure? Or is he in fact, affiliated with a secret society? In the early 2000s, (when Hip Hop still had hope) The ATLiens released the single, "The Whole World" off their "Big Boi and Dre present...Outkast" album. Outkast needs to come back with another album pronto. Enjoy!

Nas, one of Hip Hop's greats, has blessed us with timeless music. He did this track with Puff Daddy (or whatever his name was at the time) and they just ripped it. The song, which appears on his 1999 "I Am" album, gives you the feeling of dominance and the power to overcome any obstacle that arrives. Take in each word before you go off and do anything today; and just know nothing can stop you from reaching the top....NOTHING!

The Beastie Boys, you can't say you love Hip Hop without loving the Beastie Boys. Who would've thought three white guys from New York City, who started out as punk artist, could rock the world like they do now. Sabotage displays the killer mix of rock with rap with a video that resembles the old television show, Hawaii five-o. Enjoy the track.

This song is for those who need a vacation to just get away from all the stress. There are moments in life where we all just want to give in to the pressures of life but we still push on. Just vibe to this Ludacris track and take it easy yall...

Consisting of Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9", Crooked I and Joell Ortiz, Slaughterhouse is a complete super group. They each grace the track with their own menacing bars and "Microphone" proves that. The track was produced by Alchemist, with samples from Rakim. Eminem also did a freestyle over the same beat...who did crushed it more yall?
